About Old Gum Tree Reserve
The Old Gum Tree is the birthplace of South Australia. It was here that Governor Hindmarsh read the proclamation that formally established the new province on 28 December 1836 and that reading is recreated and celebrated on the same day each year. The Old Gum Tree reserve is great for families being fully fenced and includes plenty of shade, play ground, BBQ and toilets. Learn all about the Old Gum Tree and the history of South Australia's beginnings at the Bay Discovery Centre, Moseley Square, Glenelg, Just catch the tram in Adelaide, disembark at the sea, and you’re there.
