About PS Industry
Moored on the majestic Renmark Riverfront, the Paddle Steamer Industry provides a reminder of bygone times on the Murray River.... The PS Industry was built at Goolwa by the State Government and commissioned in 1911 as a work boat for the SA Engineering and Water Supply Department (now SA Water). It was designed specifically to remove snags from the river, clearing the passage for other river steamers and to drive piles where needed. The Industry was later used in the construction and maintenance of the locks and weirs. After being retired in 1969 from active duty, it was a static museum until 1990 when it was carefully restored by the hard work of a group of volunteers.
