About Wallaroo Jetty
The Wallaroo Jetty is one of the best fishing jetties in the state. Extending out for 869 metres into water that is up to 10 metres deep, the jetty is home to a wide variety of birdlife as well as many marine species. Amongst the types of fish anglers may catch are snapper, squid, flathead, tommy ruff, garfish, snook, salmon and mullet. SCUBA divers will enjoy swimming through the jetties pylons to observe the wide variety of marine life and there are facilities in the town to refill tanks and purchase accessories. An added attraction is the opportunity to see the large grain ships which visit the jetty from time to time, mainly during the summer months after the harvest. (The end of the jetty may be closed when ships are berthed)
