About Morawa District Historical Society Museum
Like many midwest townships, Morawa’s history is a tale of agricultural development. Perhaps nowhere is this more evident than the Morawa District Historical Society Museum. The museum is housed in the town’s old gaol and courthouse, with artefacts and stories revealing something of Morawa’s rollicking past - a time when lawlessness was rife and outsiders whispered tales of strange goings on in the district. Volunteers have collected a vast array of heritage farming equipment and historical records depicting life in the early days, with a particular emphasis on windmills. Their extensive windmill collection and research form the content for The Windmill Journal - the society’s quarterly publication that is distributed worldwide.
