Bellthorpe Rainforest Tour

Sandgate, Queensland

Step away from the crowds and enjoy a private rainforest experience on this relaxed, small-group tour. Designed for travelers who value quiet immersion in nature, it offers exclusive access to a hidden part of the hinterland rarely visited by the public. After pick-up, we travel north of Brisbane to the hills of Bellthorpe, rising to nearly 600 meters above sea level. Here, a diverse landscape unfolds, from dense subtropical rainforest to open forest, supporting rich biodiversity. We explore the private property of Bellthorpe Stays, walking at a gentle pace along rainforest tracks surrounded by towering trees, vines, and ancient ferns. The area is rich in birdlife, with chances to spot species such as Regent Bowerbird, Wompoo Fruit Dove, Catbird, and King Parrot. Wildlife sightings may also include wallabies, goannas, or even echidnas. We pause at a secluded waterfall before continuing through unique habitats. We then visit the lily ponds, home to various frogs, and enjoy a tea or coffee break at the Resource Center. In the afternoon, a short walk at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve offers stunning views of the Glasshouse Mountains, after lunch at the café. This tour combines wildlife, scenery, and tranquillity for a truly immersive rainforest experience.
